Creating an Original Character

In digital arts this week we had to create an original character, or if we all ready had one like me, you had to bring them to life. Here is the sketch I did of my original character:

If any of you are shadow hunter fans you will catch on to the markings on her neck. If you aren't shadow hunter fans, I suggest reading it, it is by far one of my favorite series.

My weeks 2, 3, & 5 Critiques

My Week Two: Basic Tutorials Critique

I see a basic drawing technique created by a software program, most likely Inkscape. Some elements of design that were used are a soft shade of pink, with a contrasting pale shade of blue. The shapes of the bubbles are a circular shape with a bit of a fading technique. Some principles of design shown are the sense of depth coming from the different sized bubbles. One could say that the interpretation was a sense of serenity and peace. It has an almost complete yet incomplete feel to it. I think that the artist has a good understanding of the basic tools used in the program.

My Week Three: Science Textbook Critique

I see a use of the basic tools learned earlier, created by the Inkscape art program. We also see that the color the artist used created an eye catching contrast. We get the dark blue background off set by the light pink "cells" created by the use of a many pointed star shape. Then we even out the contrast with some soft circles to soften the picture. This creates a sort of balance in the picture, but still giving the stars a dominance on the cover. The message from this could be that science is extraordinary and momentous, but at the same time steady and tranquil. I think that the artist demonstrated an understanding of the assignment, with a few errors here and there.

My Week Five: Trace a Drawing Critique

In this picture I see the use of an online art program, Inkscape. Since we are dealing with tracing a drawing there are very few basic techniques used if any. What was used was a tracing tool, which as we see here outlines the picture fairly accurately. The coloring was used in relation to the pictures actual look. There is a symmetric look to the picture giving it a sense of harmony. The interpretation that I get would be to always be happy. I think that the artist covered the assignment well, but a few errors concerning the left eyebrow, and left eye.
